An event affectionately known as “Fleetham Feast” has given pleasure to so many people in the Kirby Fleetham village for over a Century. And while this Feast generally takes place in August with week-long celebrations and activities, coming up are some delightful Christmas oriented events.
Feast Carol Singing will be taking place Monday 19th December, from 6pm. The carol singers will tour the villages and you are welcome to participate from your home while they pass by or join the group! Back at the village hall, mulled wine and mince pies will be offered.
And coming up in February of the new year you’ll be delighted to catch the panto (pantomime) of The Elves and The Shoemaker. Evening performances Friday 10th, and Saturday 11th February with a matinee option the 11th as well.
Speaking of pantomimes, during the Christmas festive season, pantos are a treat for the whole family in the UK. They are based on fairy tales – such as Cinderella and Aladdin. Men dress as women with huge wigs and dresses, and the audience is encouraged to make lots of noise and join in the performance with cheers and boos! The villain usually ends up getting a pie in the face, even.
There are many places to go to see a pantomime in the UK. Sleeping Beauty begins this week at Hackney Empire, Peter Pan has already begun showing at the Greenwich Theatre, and the Theatre Royal Newcastle introduced Cinderella this week!
These are just a few examples, of course, and these kinds of unique experiences are available to you when you choose to join us at Fleetham Lodge to study for your IELTS. Our Quintessentially Christmas Course is still available so you don’t miss out on these spectacular festive British ventures.
